99 Days

Day 1 - Julia Donnelly eggs my house my first night back in Star Lake, and that's how I know everyone still remembers everything-how I destroyed my relationship with Patrick the night everything happened with his brother, Gabe. How I wrecked their whole family. Now I'm serving out my summer like a jail sentence: Just ninety-nine days till I can leave for college and be done.

Day 4 - A nasty note on my windshield makes it clear Julia isn't finished. I'm expecting a fight when someone taps me on the shoulder, but it's just Gabe, home from college and actually happy to see me. "For what it's worth, Molly Barlow," he says, "I'm really glad you're back."

Day 12 - Gabe got me to come to this party, and I'm actually having fun. I think he's about to kiss me - and that's when I see Patrick. My Patrick, who's supposed to be clear across the country. My Patrick, who's never going to forgive me.

Eighty-seven days of summer to go, and history is repeating itself. The last thing I want is to come between the Donnelly brothers again...but the truth is, the Donnellys stole my heart a long time ago. - excerpt from back of book.

99 days by Katie Cotugno is about summer, romance, and some slice of life.  When I read the excerpt it caught my attention because I was looking for a young adult romance in the summer. Being in a country that does not have 4 seasons, I especially love to read about summer because we all know it's a long holiday and things tend to happen (not really sure, just in books though). Going into the book, I was quite excited because it started vague as you do not know what happened with the character in the past. It was hard to put down because I wanted to know more about her past.

After reading more of the book, I felt that some days of the book is a little bit too short and it would have been better to have more happening in a day. The characters are good and realistic, it's not unbelievable for the things that  happened and how people reacted to it. I love the interactions of the characters and wanted more for them.  I feel that the main character of the book does grow up and learn things that are important to life.

This book is a really quick read as some days are short like only 1 page and some days slightly longer but still not long enough. The book had a good pace and I could predict a little bit of it but it was still enjoyable. I wished the ending was longer and had more but I could accept how it ended. Overall, I really enjoyed the book as the message behind the book was really meaningful. There was more than one issue present and  I truly value those messages. If your looking for a quick summer read then this book is recommended as it was fun, meaningful and light read.
